Well, the book cover looks good! It's not your standard Fantasy Adventure/Fantasy Romance design (a decision which might come back later to bite me in the rear-end!) but I like it. It has a "romantasy heist' vibe about it, which is what I was going for.
These two, Astara (she on the left with the lute) and Sheliak (they on the right with the rapiers) meet while both on a mission to steal stuffs (SPOILERS!) from a particularly corrupt local lord. That's the 'heist' part.
They quickly become partners, and that's the "romantasy" part.
One of the things I love in stories, whether books or media, are when the protagonists are competent, loving, and an established couple. I don't see it much—the trend currently is enemies-to-lovers—and when it happens I lose myself in the dynamic, the story, and when it's well done, the banter. Oh yeah.. the banter!
"Well", one late night I thought, thought I, "I bet I could write something that I'd want to read." So I sat down, drafted the story in 3 acts, and cackled like a mad parrot most of the way. These two—Astara and Sheliak—are an absolute joy to write. Witty, funny, smart-assery-abundant, and enchanting.
Finally - a fantasy couple who trust each other AND have great banter!
(I know, I know, they're not the only ones!)
I'm planning on getting this book out in the Autumn this year (2025) on as many platforms as possible. For free. If enough of you like it (I'd be happy with 5 of you. Maybe 2 if you're really wonderful people), I have some novelettes waiting in the wings.
Until next time, have some adventures with someone you love & loves you back. Cast magic, play music, and run like hell when you need to.
